International Scientific and Biotechnology Conference - Kigali Rwanda
Dates: 4-6 October 2017
Venue: Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village
As a partner of the Belgian Development Cooperation, the Academy for Research and Higher Education (Académie de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur - ARES in French acronym) supports partnerships between the higher education institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium, and the institutions of the countries of the South to reinforce them in their teaching, training and research missions, and in their role as a development actor in their respective communities.
It is in this regard that ARES is heavily sponsoring the University of Rwanda in organizing the international scientific and biotechnology conference due to take place from 4-6 October 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda. This conference will bring together academic scientists, researchers, government and private agencies, philanthropists, pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, and funding agencies dedicated to advancing the frontiers of science and biotechnology in Africa, by shedding light on the translational nature of biotechnological research. Latest research, business development, strategic alliances and product opportunities, licensing and pharmaceutical biotechnology (e.g. vaccines, cancer, antibodies), medical and industrial biotechnology and more, will be among the subjects to be covered in the presentations and deliberations during this conference. For more details please check on the attached poster and the conference website www.sasascience.org.
The originality of this conference will promote African inventors in different fields of biotechnology and science. Therefore, it is mobilizing all talented African diaspora as well as other African’s partners who are willing to support north-south and south-south biotechnology transfer.
Under the auspices of the Rwandan Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities, and in collaboration with the University of Rwanda, as well as the Society for the Advancement of Science in Africa (SASA) this conference will be hosted at the Kigali Conference & Exhibition Village (KCEV) in Rwanda from 4 – 6 October 2017. The main theme of this conference is “Translational Science and Biotechnology Advances in Africa” and it is expected to attract around 1000 participants from different fields of science and biotechnology.
Importantly, ahead of the conference, several workshops and symposia including hands-on in “Mini Invasive Laparoscopic surgery” and “Application of molecular biology tools” among others will be conducted in order to make the ground state in “Science and Biotechnology R&D” in Africa in line with the ongoing and upcoming training and research projects.
We take this opportunity to thank again all collaborators, investors, sponsors and others who are working very hard to give to this conference a big success and impact.
We wish in advance all the best and a warm welcome to all guests and visitors to Rwanda.
Sincerely,
Prof. Leon MUTESA
President of Local Organizing Committee
