Introduction

The current UR-Sweden Programme phase will be implemented in a span of five years (July 2019-June 2024). This phase seeks to consolidate achievements resulting from the previous three phases, and extend into new areas aligned with Rwanda’s developmental agenda and the realities of the University of Rwanda. The current phase include 14 research training programmes and five research support programmes. It targets to enrol 80 PhD candidates   who will be trained both at UR and in Swedish varsities on Sandwich mode, 26 postdocs, and more than 240 Masters Students.

The Programme supports UR to form interdisciplinary research teams through competitive research grants to results in peer review publications. Support in this fourth phase will enable UR to further improve its library system, ICT infrastructure, foster research uptake and regional collaborations, and will enable UR to develop vigorous research management and fund mobilization capabilities.
